I am beginning to think that the old beliefs were actually more full of understanding than the new. There seems to be a lot that we today don’t seem to grasp spiritually that they really did.
anything with ***someword*** is my own addition ![]()

I got this from : http://www.geocities.com/wodwrght/spirituality.html
THE FOUR DIRECTIONS
The Four Spirit Beings of Creation:
Rock, Fire, Wind, and Water ***angels***
After Kishelëmùkòng had his vision of the creation, he created four Spirit Beings to assist him in fulfilling his vision and in creating the world. He placed each of these Spirit beings at different directions and gave each different powers, and gifts to give us. These four Spirit Beings are the Spirit Beings of all creation and are held in the highest of respect and reverence.
MUXUMSA LOWANEWANK………Grandfather of the North………..he was placed there to control the power of the rock……….He gave forth solidity and physical form to Kishelëmùkòng’s though
ts…….he gave us winter, ice, snow, cold, rocks, trees, our bodies, and all that we see around us.
MUXUMSA WAPANEWANK……….Grandfather of the East…………he was placed there to control the power of the wind………..he gave forth breath and mind to Kishelëmùkòng’s thoughts……….he gave us springtime, breath of life, birth, and new beginnings……….he brings forth light, our minds, creativity, knowledge, music, and songs.
HUMA SHAWANEWANK…………..Grandmother of the South……….she was placed there to control the power of fire……….she gave forth spiritual life and growth to Kishelëmùkòng’s thoughts……….she gives us summer, warmth, growth and maturity, our inner fire and spirit, and gives fire to the sun.
MUXUMSA WUNCHENEWANK…..Grandfather of the West……….he was placed there to control the power of water………he gave forth a watery and softening influence to Kishelëmùkòng’s thoughts……….he gives us autumn, death, our life’s blood, the waters, healing, intuition, emotions, dreams and visions, and rain, he readies us for renewal.

Now if you will turn with me to the book of Revelation and read about how God tells the angels to do his bidding…like pour out the vials and such…then you know where I am going with this. There are other spirit beings also spoken
of through my tribal history:
—-
NANAPUSH…………(aka Nanabush, Manabuzho, or Michabo)…..”The Strong Pure One”……… Nanapush restored creation from a small patch of mud on a turtle’s back after the great flood………he also taught man all he needed to know to survive and gave us the tèlën òk nisha lilenowòkà nà . ***Noah/Jesus/Moses???***
MESINGW………….Mesingw is the guardian spirit of the animals……he helps the people find game on the hunt………it is said that he is often seen riding on the back of a deer………because of his frightful appearance he is used to correct children in that they are told that if they don’t behave Mesingw will get them………..Mesingw’s face is half black and half red……….
3 SISTERS………….(Corn – Squash – Beans)…………the 3 Sisters are a special gift from Kishelëmùkòng and give us those 3 vegatables which make up a basic staple of the Lënape traditional diet……..they are very fond of each other as evidenced by the fact the plants grow together in the same field.
KUKNA…………..Mother Earth……..Kukna is the mother to all beings and from her all life grows……..Kukna gave us growth and healing.
NUX KISHUX…………Father Sun…….Nux Kishux gives us light and heat.
NIPAHUMA……………Grandmother Moon…….Nipahuma gave of her powers of fertility and reproduction to create man………Nipahuma is the mother of mankind. ***eve***
MUXUMSA PETHAKOWE……..Grandfather Thunder……..Muxumsa Pethakowe was sent by Kishelëmùkòng to keep Nipahuma company…..he along with Nipahuma created man……..Muxumsa Pethakowe is the father of mankind and protects mankind from Matantu and the Maxa’xak. ***adam***
KICHICHAX’ KAL……………..the Great Toad………..(aka Bikanaki’hat)……..Kichichax’kal was given the duty of ruling over the waters of the earth……….he was also given the power and authority to cause rain at his will……….he was killed by Maxa’xak which caused the great flood and the resulting destruction of the world.
MATANTU………………….Matantu is the spirit of evil and destruction……he corrupted what Kishelëmùkòng created by creating evil opposites…..but by so doing he also creates balance in the world for good cannot exist without the evil, nor evil without good. ***satan***
MAXA’ XAK………………Maxa’xak is an evil spirit who lives in the form of a horned serpent…………he caused the great flood and resulting destruction of the world by killing Kichichax’kal………….. the Lënape bel
ieve all snakes to be Maxa’xak. ***satan’s spirit form***

I can recognize traits of Christianity within the walls of these spirit beings.

my vision: the matrix
I had a vision a few years ago…I believe it was in 2002. It was spring and all things were in full bloom. We were sitting in church on Sunday and the preacher said “God spoke all things into existence. He made everything we see today with nothing but His word…”
I heard a voice tell me to look out of the window at that moment. Behold! I saw everything…and I mean everything down to bees and leaves and veins in trees as if it were nothing but words. The colors, the shapes, all words. The sky, the clouds, words. I was in the Matrix, God’s Matrix.
This all goes hand in hand with what I am learning about my people. Kishelemukong, He who “creates us by his thoughts”, is the one who is responsible for making all things in this world. Although, the belief is that He himself does not have dealings with mere mortals, but He has helpers *like the saints of Catholicism* to whom we divert and tell what we need. These beings He “thought” or “spoke” into existence, too.
My impression is that they are the guardian angels of the Earth. More on that in the next post.
Monotheism
Apparently, since the dawn of my ancestors, we have been a monotheistic nation. We have been worshipping the Creator AKA Kishelëmùkòng and have believed in His different forms. We have believed that all things are sacred because He spoke them from His mouth and created them with His thoughts. We do NOT worship them. We call the earth our Mother because it is from dust we came.
http://www.geocities.com/wodwrght/creation.html
Since we are monotheistic, we cannot believe in animism in the form of worshipping everything unto itself. Animism is characteristic of polytheistic belief systems because they believe that there can be more than one supreme force at work.
We therefore cannot be animists.
ALSO there were no shamans in our nation. There were no crystals and things of this nature. There were witches, but they were believed to be against what the Creator wanted and therefore were cautiously recognized. No one wanted to cross them and it was taboo to seek their help.
Nanapush is like Jesus or the Holy Spirit.
Our way believes that we were able to receive the “white man’s gospel” because our
beliefs were so similar…that we were waiting for the gospel of Jesus and Christianity was the next step.
That is why I am proud and happy to call my heritage what it is. It is beautiful and fulfilling. Praise be to Kishelëmùkòng!

new journal
I have created a new journal to mark the journey into my tribal spirituality. Please comment and tell me why you want to be added cuz it’s friends only. Im not trying to get into spiritual battles and debates there. I am just trying to chronicle my journey into a deeper understanding.

my totem
My totem slinks as nothing can
It has no feet, it has no hands
It makes me strong and striking fast
Cunning, creative, renewing from the past
dreamcatchers part 2
…
My feel for you, boy, is decaying in front of me
Like the carrion of a murdered prey
And all I want is to save you, honey
Or the strength to walk away
