I have answered the questions posed by Brian for a blogging classe he is teaching. He is asking that anyone who wants to participate in answering the questions to please email him: brian at reillyville dot com with your answers or the link to your post with the answers.
1. When did you start blogging? Why?
I started blogging in 2004 when I was invited to LJ to hang online with my high school buddies.
2. How would you describe the writing style you use on your blog?
Honest and candid. I don’t like to beat around the bush, but I do like to use vivid imagery from time to time.
3. How often do you update your blog?
Daily, sometimes every few hours. It depends on what I am up to for the day.
4. What satisfaction do you get from blogging?
I love sharing my life and insights with a broad audience. Once upon a time I was going to go into advertising or journalism, but this is the same deal with perks. I get to stay home with my son and do what I love. I am making a part time income online. It’s great. Even before I started blogging for profit, I would blog every day. Just take a look at my Livejournal entries and you will see how my one blog grew to a blog-pire in less than 2 years.
5. What blogs do you read regularly?
I have about 30 blogs from friends to tech news to quotes in my RSS aggregator. I love to read about other people’s lives and things that interest me.
6. Do you have any suggestions for someone who is just starting out as a blogger?
Don’t think too hard about it. Blogging will start to come so naturally you will be mentally blogging things for when you get a chance to publish them. Let it flow from you as naturally as your thoughts. You can start out just writing about your day, things you plan to accomplish, your children, your pets, or anything that piques your interest. The rest will flow from there.
7. What’s your definition of a blog?
A place where you can be yourself and let your mind be free.
8. Have you developed any online or face to face relationships as a result of your blogging?
A good number of online relationships have become face2face friendships. Some of my long time friends on the net are people I may NEVER meet in person, but we have been friends for years already. It doesn’t matter if we never meet, we are truly friends. Most of them I talk to on the phone anyway HAHA.
9. Please provide a link to one of your blog entries which you like or which does a good job representing the style and/or content of your blog.
I can’t do that. They all make up parts of the whole that is me. In order to get all sides of me you would have to read a good number of my blog entries on all my blogs to find out where I am coming from.

Many people don’t think about South Jersey as the kind of place that true Southerners reside. You have to really be there to understand. My family has fish fries every now and again. We know that grits go with salt, butter, and a side of scrambled eggs with some fried scrapple. We can fry okra with the best of them. Gravy is a necessity on our table and chicken is always in abundance. We know where the best rib shack can be found and how to make ho-cakes and fry cornbread. Homemade jelly is a breeze for us.
Don’t get us wrong. We are just as Southern Fried as many others. My father is from Virginia. My aunt used to live there. My mother and grandmother have always been South Jersians, though…as have I. I don’t really know we got so much Southern Charm.
My folks might just surprise y’all. I have been shucking corn and snapping beans since I was strong enough to handle a husk. Bacon drippings are a great spice to many dishes…rice, beans, cabbage *if it isn’t already in with the ham bone”, and so much more. It’s a wonder I didn’t grow up a little more southward.
Well, y’all come back naw ya’hear? I’m fitin’a go’n down yon’a and rustle me up some grub. *didn’t think you could actually spell those words, did you ? LOL*

Working at home is the dream job of so many people, especially those with families. There is such a great influx of women looking around for a way to bring back the traditional family medium. You know, mom home with the children while dad is out making the money. Now there are even more people trying to bring both parents home so that no child has to go without their parents. Homeschooling is also on the uprise as more and more people feel that they can provide better education for their families at home.
I chose to use blogs as my part time job. I get to work at home, make my own hours, choose the money that I make, and blog about the things that I enjoy. I have been blogging ads for about a year and it has been a great experience. I have met a heap of great people and added some to my close friend circle.
Blogging is not for everyone, whether they are making money doing it or not. Some people have more to say than others. Some people are just not interested in blogging, but it has been a great outlet for me.
How much money have I made? With PayPerPost alone I have made over $1,000 since October of last year. With Blogitive I have made over $400. With other sites I have made around $100. I encourage anyone who wants to stay at home and earn a living to look into this avenue. It may be the one for you.

I wrote this in an email this morning:
“I need to sleep, but I’m too awake, and this cough is unforgiving.”
It sounds nearly like a song when you say it. Sometimes you just love the cadence.
I only got a few hours of sleep last night. My son conked out around 9 and I did before midnight. He woke back up before 2, then I woke back up right after and his father went to bed. Me and the kid stayed awake til 7 this morning. I finally got 2 more hours of sleep but I feel like a zombie. Looks like the coffee will be flowing this morning.
I also forgot to take that fish pill yesterday. Not very good for someone trying to make sure if they are even going to work for mood disorder issues.
I did a theme for my friend and forgot to fix things on it since I was so out of it and the durn thing wasn’t widget ready, the footer said something strange, and I was like OMG why ??? Easy fixes but just sad that I didn’t give him the full packaged no mess theme I started out to give him.
I wish that Wordpress would come out with 2.1 and a mass private/public mode already. I want to make older posts private. It’s not something I want to do to 600+ posts by hand, that’s for sure.
