I must say that first time I ever read the words “forever home” I thought someone was talking about the death of a pet. Much to my chagrin, I have found out that it’s what you call the home a pet will not leave till death do they part. Here I was thinking it was a sad experience and it wasn’t.

There are a plethora of animals that need forever homes. Many of them are not traditional animals like cats, dogs, and birds. There are orphans, neglected, or abandoned animals all over the place.

I am going to start doing a cute meme on here called Furry Fridays hosted by the 4 The Love of Animals blog.

Today is my little sister’s 21st birthday. I cannot believe that she is already 21. I look back and still see her as a poofy headed 6 year old in a frilly pink dress. I protected you on the bus then. As you got older you looked to me for advice. You came to me first and shared your life with me. When you first started liking boys, I warned you. When you hurt yourself, I held you. You have no idea what that means to a sister, to know that she is revered as I am by you. I always ask God for wisdom and the courage to tell you the truth when you ask for advice. I could never express to you how much your confidence means to me. No matter what we have ever been through together, we have always ended up stronger for it. I am so thankful that God chose me to be your big sister.

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen things I know about my sister:

  • She is a fighter. She never gives up without a fight.
  • Her goal in life is to succeed at all costs. That’s a survivor’s mentality.
  • She is finishing up her Associates with plans already in the works for her Bachelors.
  • She only drinks clear sodas if any soda at all.
  • She saw me have a nervous breakdown and still wasn’t scared of me.
  • When she was 2 she tried to strangle me to death with a telephone cord.
  • The more she drives, the better she gets, and the better I feel about it HAHA.
  • I have never really heard her yell. She can get pretty loud, though.
  • She is the most fun person to scare. I made it my hobby when we were growing up.
  • She loves to chow down on some good home cooking.
  • She is great with small children. They take to her like a duck to water.
  • Once upon a time she didn’t like my husband…but now she does.
  • She was once a great track star.
  • She is still a fantabulous singer. We used to sing together all the time.
  • She will always be 6 years old and in need of protection in my mind…

Here’s to you little sis *clink* CHEERS. Don’t get too tipsy tonight. See you Saturday ;)

to love and cherish forever. What is a promise made of? Trust and commitment. In our churches there was always an opportunity for the teenagers to make a promise to God that they would commit themselves fully to Him and abstain from sex and sexual acts. Promise Rings were always given out to the guys and the gals to put on their ring finger so that they would never forget the vows they made to God.

Promise Ring

There is a wedding ceremony of sorts and reception afterwards. The commitment is significant because it is a way to try and crack down on pre-marital sex, teen pregnancy, and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. It’s also a great moral asset to those who do commit. They are also saying that sex isn’t as important as building their lives, self esteem, self worth, and futures. It’s saying that they don’t need sex to feel loved. It’s more than a religious thing. It’s a life thing.

The child won’t stop being defiant. The dog is being treated differently today because I am having issues with him growling. The husband is home but not home since he has a business meeting today. It’s my sister’s 21st birthday and I can’t see her till Saturday. Between the dog and the kid I might just pull out all my hair, but I will have 2 well trained boys even if I do go bald.

OKAY So Here are the reasons that I think may have attributed to my dog’s sudden growling problem:

  • I let him and my son play on the floor all the time.
  • I let my son use him as a pillow.
  • I told my son it would be his job to feed/water the dog, but then I keep forgetting to let him do it.
  • I can’t give Coby enough time to run around outside since I am scared he will run away and I can’t leave my son for more than 20 minutes in the apartment. *ps I can see him, but it still makes me nervous*.
  • I let Coby tell me when he is ready to play or get petted.
