The Ultimate Gift

I just watched the trailer to this movie and I must say that I am looking forward to seeing it. It comes out next month on the 9th. This is the official site of the movie "The Ultimate Gift" and the grass-roots movement its starting to help charities and give to others. Neat idea, right? Make a movie into a huge charitable event! I love the story line behind it all. The little girl is enchanting and the other two main characters are really well suited for their parts. It all centers around a man who is given an inheritance, but there are conditions he must fulfill before he gets what his deceased relative thinks he deserves.

The movie is based on a book that sold over 4 million copies. I find it weird that I never heard of it, but then I am pretty secluded nowadays. Their main point is this:

The only way you can truly get more out of life for yourself is to give part of yourself away.

Isn”t that beautiful? You can also support your favorite charity on the “Weekend of Giving” by going to see the movie that weekend. Check the website for more details on that. You can also see the trailer right here on my website. If you plan to go and see the movie, please let me know. I totally support what they are doing and hope that I, too, can be part of the movement of giving.

Taz, Coby, and sneaky dealings

He and my son have been keeping me in stitches. They play hide and seek where Coby gets covered in a sheet, then my son asks me where Coby is, then I say I don’t know, then Coby jumps from under the sheet. Coby also plays find Mommy pretty well. I am going to teach him to find Taz next. Fetching and returning skills are getting better, too. He is learning to play nicely and respectfully.

I have to admit that Coby has growled a few times more, but he always cuts it short because he knows he is in trouble. He tries, really and it doesn’t help that my son is trying to choke him half to death with the chain sometimes. They are both pretty rough boys. Always watching… always *sigh*

Thanks, Mom!

I bought him 2 new toys since he ripped his octopus toy that he had since he came home with us. He has this fixation on ripping things to pieces as soon as he finds a weakness… like a tear. He started rooting for the center like a crazy dog. I am teaching him to be more gentle than that with his toys. I got him a hamburger squeaky which rolls like a ball and an owl squeaky. He ripped the hamburger the first day and I sewed it back up. I have to keep watch to make sure he doesn’t destroy these.

Fraggin Virgin Mobile

Virgin Mobile is sucking the fun out of having a prepaid phone! Seriously. I go to their website to buy a replacement phone for hubby who lost his the night of my sister”s party, right? Right. Well I try TWICE to buy the phone and TWICE they put a hold on my bank account for the amount while denying that my card is valid. How can it not be valid if you can put a charge hold on my account??? The first time I went through this I got them to fax the bank and within the hour my money was back in my account. This time they keep losing my friggin paperwork, not making notes on my account about it… and then they friggin BLOCK ME from calling anymore. I swear! They had to have because they hung up on me the 4th time I called in 3 days to get this resolved and when I call back there isn”t a recording, a ring, NOTHING. Just silence. … ..

I”m about to call my bank and tell them what to do with that charge and Virgin Mobile what to do with their phones…

A small disturbance to most…but important to a writer

I need to find a good PEN! I usually get at least one or two, but with my son running around me, it”s hard to keep track of all my Pens. I try to hide them, but NO they always disappear! I love a pen with weight in the end, which means if it has a cap that can be placed on the opposite end while I write, all the better for me to feel balanced as I let loose my insidious flow. Another necessity is that the pen write smoothly, without feeling kinked up in the paper. It has to write on ANY paper I choose, so that is usually a hard requirement to fill. It can be any color, really. I like to have good pens in all colors so depending on my writing mood I can capture the full torrent of my thoughts. The final requirement for an extraordinary writing utensil is style. It has to LOOK nice and flow-friendly. Regular ball points just don”t make the grade.

Never knew that there was so much to a writing flow, eh?

Spiritual Discovery

I am a seeker. I seek the knowledge of truth and understanding. Being such, I come across a lot of different spiritual ideas that make a lot of sense, and some that don”t. One that I identify with is The Lotus Path. It was introduced to me today. The path takes into account Shamanism, yoga, and many other paths of spiritual enlightenment to form one cohesive unit.

It was interesting to read about the background of this pathway to enlightenment. I was surprised to find out that the woman behind it all was a teacher of English. Now she does workshops all over the place for The Lotus Path. Her husband is supportive of her spirituality. The truth is found in focusing on finding your spiritual comfort zone. She doesn”t seem to be preaching an all out truth, only guiding people to find their own pathways through what she has learned and experienced over the years. I can respect that. I would rather be able to find the truth than be told what it is all the time.

The one thing that I take issue with is the whole *influencing the chakras* deal. I have not come to a conclusion about chakras yet, so that would definitely make me uncomfortable. It”s all good, though, because it just shows you another way to look at spirituality. I am all for that. I might not be taking too much from the Lotus Path, but at least I can glean some things from their teachings.
