When last we talked about this, I had just had a fiasco with the gas station… now we have left the gas station and found our way to ACME.
I found a decent parking space, although people were near running me over as I picked my way through the small amount of traffic to the door. All my gallon jugs were in the cart with me, and I thought that all would be well. I filled the water jugs systematically as I always do, two hands to two jugs to two filler machines. Everything is going well until *after I have counted the money out 3 times to make sure I had enough* the money that I had left for the 11th and 12th jugs goes spilling into the water reservoir which is covered by a grill of sorts. I was amazed to find that I only had 4 nickels left to fill the final jug. I was flabbergasted! How in the world do I NOT count correctly when I made sure to count by jug 40cents each?
I have to change my fingers to those of a contortionist to get the money out because, lo and behold, the grill is STUCK on so I can’t get it off. GREAT. Now there is a person behind me waiting patiently to fill their own jug and I am still standing there like a cat trying to get a mouse out of a hole. UGH. I finally get all my 4 nickels together and notice that my water jug is suddenly less full than it was when I started fishing for my change.
I guess it’s just divine providence… if I had filled the final jug I would have had to deal with the leaky jug and lose money that way. I was able to switch from the faulty jug to the perfect one without hassle. YAY
I thought things were looking up…
