This morning the Kid had his first dental appointment ever. He was such a good patient. The people at the dentist office were well versed in catering to children, too. It was a great mix of personalities. He got the routine x-rays, cleaning, vitamin/fluoride wash, and was double checked by the dentist.
I was glad to have Health Insurance today. His appointment cost me nothing as our insurance covered everything. I was surprised when they told me so at the desk. Even with the coverage we have, I am still looking for cheaper insurance. My husband pays an arm and a leg for what we get now. At least it’s PPO and not HMO. I don’t think I could handle that. New Jersey health insurance has got to have some of the highest premiums in the USA.
So, I got to finally ask about his 2 front teeth. The dentist and hygienist said that they are hanging on by a thread and will more than likely fall out by the time he is 5. It will take a little longer for his other teeth to come in as they have a long way to go to descend, but his grown up teeth look great. Another thing is that he has non-corrosive cavities in a few of his teeth. As long as he keeps them clean, they won’t become corrosive and have to be filled. Overall, he was happy. I am happy. We don’t have to go back for 6 months. Here are some pictures from his first visit:
