Tomorrow I get to go to a once a year event in my old hometown: The Millville Airshow. I am excited to see what my son’s reaction will be, especially now that he has been on an airplane and in the clouds 4 times. I know it will be way too loud for him, but my sister (who has volunteered there before) says the tents give out free earplugs. I wish to goodness that I could take a piece of my home furniture out there so I could lounge and enjoy the show comfortably. Unfortunately, that’s not the case.
The Airshow officially begins at 11:20 am when the grand opening ceremonies will be held. We are going on the 2nd day, so we will probably see the best blow out performances. The shows run today with the same exact schedule as tomorrow. There are a number of displays on the ground, like a car show and an opportunity to see inside different types of planes, as well as those in the sky.
So that’s what’s happening in my neighborhood this weekend. What’s going on in YOUR neck of the woods?

I LOVE airshows! The Willow Grove air show should be coming up soon – we live about 2 miles from the base, so we get to see the show from home, too. When Rob was in the military, we went to an airshow practically every year since we lived right there – and Rob was usually on duty with his K-9 and we went to visit him “at work”. Good times.
My parents’ house is about 5 miles away from the fairgrounds. We always stayed home because it was more fun to watch the planes regroup than it was to watch them pass by in tidy formation. Once my friends and I were camping at a remote lake and two fighters buzzed the lake below the treeline. It was a surprise.
I’m always afraid of air shows. I know that the odds of a plane crashing at a show is slim, but it terrifies me.
I hope you guys have a good time though.
I’ll stay home and be a scaredy Kat…LOL
We live next to an military base and have enjoyed watching the Thunderbirds from our front porch.
I LOVE airshows!!! Here in Hawaii we don’t get them very often but the Blue Angels are coming in September (I think) and I can’t wait
Shoot! I was hoping you’d have a follow-up posted by now so you could share the highlights with us! I’ve never been to an airshow, but we see a lot of the real thing as the pilots from the nearby airbase do their maneuvers.
The follow up is posted now, skeet
Having problems with my movie editing software so my videos are rough.
I used to love going to air shows with my Dad. He flies model airplanes and it always reminds me of having fun being a kid.
