Series of Fortunate Events

Yesterday was a great day due to a series of fortunate events. At first, it really didn’t look like it would be that eventful. I mean, we got to my father in law’s just to find out that my sister in law wasn’t coming down. My father in law was an hour away at a doctor’s appointment, and we were relegated to chatting with the old man from across the way. We decided not to wait for my husband’s parents to come back, so I suggested we head to the mall.

We parked at Boscov’s, which we hardly ever do. Then I suggested we go down the side of the mall we usually go to last. I decided to buy a few things, even though I hadn’t intended to. I got myself some stuff from Victoria Secret and Rue 21. Then we walked around a bit more to turn around and find ourselves face to face with Brandon, a youth from the church we used to go to. He had just arrived with his cousin David.

They, themselves, told us about the series of events that they had to go through just to get to the mall. They were headed to the movies, but after the events that had gone on beforehand, they ended up with less than enough money to go the the movies for both of them. My husband suggested we all head around the corner to get something to eat, then go to The Simpson Movie (read what I thought here) together. The kids were ecstatic. We had a great time chatting and made it over just in time for the movie to begin. Directly after, we headed over to the Puerto Rican Festival in the city while the kids caught their ride to church. Funny how the movie ended exactly 1/2 hour before church was to begin and they had just enough time to get there.

We got in our car and pointed ourselves in the direction of the festival, then it struck me to call my friend Cheena to see if she wanted to join us. Fortunately, she was already planning to go with her kids, so we decided to meet there. We got to the fest, took a walk around, and saw a few people we had been missing from our other church in the area. Then we went over to the rides and things so my son could have his fun. We were found by another friend who we hadn’t seen in ages. Then we met up with Cheena over at the playground and ended up hanging out till like 10:30pm.

We arrived home around 11:30 pm to find that my dog hadn’t soiled his cage. Amazing. We had a great day.
