I love Johnny Depp. His roles are as different as fingerprints. I admire him for his prowess as an actor and his ability to choose well suited roles for himself. I have seen close to every movie the man has ever made. Picking two of my favorites is the hardest thing to do, but if I had to choose I would go with Once Upon A Time in Mexico and his body of work in Pirates of the Carribean. Just to show you the range of his roles here is a quote from the first movie. He is an agent trying to get rid of the problems in Mexico. He was in the bar drinking tequila and at the end of his explanation for wanting to kill the cook he says:
Help keep the balance by pulling the trigger.
His line of reasoning is so convincing you nearly want to go and kill the cook for him!
Another show of his logic is rather contrasting to the one you picture above. It’s his way of speaking as Jack Sparrow: Me? I’m dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It’s the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they’re going to do something incredibly… stupid.
Of course, he is referring to Will Turner (played by Orlando Bloom) being the honest and therefore stupid one. It’s almost too much to bare!
I would have to say that my favorite of the two would be the Pirates trilogy. He is Jack Sparrow through and through on each movie, never missing a beat. You almost forget that he is Johnny Depp.
Now he has another movie to add to one of my favorites (I hope). He plays a demonic barber who kills for revenge. For more information you can visit the official Sweeney Todd movie site or visit Sweeney Todd on Myspace. It looks like an interesting movie. He SINGS in it!! I was just listening on Myspace. What do you think about his new movie?

Here is my Wordless Wednesday for today.
update
I have been knitting like a fiend all day. I am very close to the end of this project. It will be a hat when I am done. Knitting kind of hurts the hand a bit, but I’m starting to get used to it. I can knit pretty quickly already.

Talk about disappointed! I was looking to see if there were any wine of the month clubs that are active in NJ. Apparently, many places don’t supply this state because of some silly law! This is particularly appalling to me, a wine lover.
For around forty dollars a month, you can get two base level wines in your home, as long as you don’t live in NJ (and a few other states). Gold Medal is offering a red and a white whine every month. You get to sample some of the best of the wines from recent years. They have a lovely Cabernet Sauvignon that I would love to sample. If you have a more sophisticated wallet to go with your pallet, you can upgrade to the platinum or diamond series wines, which feature aged and blush wines as well as some hard to find wines.
If anyone wants to buy me anything this year, find me a wine club inw NJ and pay for a few months in advance. I might just love you forever

I went shopping with a 20 today. Here is where that $20 went:
18 large eggs: $3.69
Soy Milk : $4.09
Skim Milk : $4.29
Dog Food: $5.69
Total for bare essentials: $17.76
plus tax for the dog food : $19.32
That’s right! I was supposed to “save” ten dollars out of that 20. IMPOSSIBLE. How could I do it when eggs and skim milk alone are darn near ten dollars.
Thanks to my mother’s generosity, I was able to use another 15 and get some other things we needed like bread, spaghetti sauce, and chicken nuggets. I did get a few other things with that money. My total was so close to what I had on me, it was insanity. $33.44 buys about twelve items at the IGA around the corner. Most of that stuff was ON SALE. *sigh* Friggin economy.

Among the awesome presents my son is getting this Christmas you will find three educational toys from Learning Resources.
First up is the Gears, Gears, Gears! Lights & Action set. This is made for ages 5 to 10. There are so many pieces I almost didn’t know what to do. Once I figured out the basic idea of how to get the gears together, it was pretty neat. I don’t think my son will have a problem with it. He loves figuring things like this out. It even glows in the dark, which he will find fascinating. It only takes 2 AA batteries.
Next we have the AlphaBall Electronic Word Game. My husband was testing that out. I don’t get why the unit is so big, but I am guessing it is supposed to add to the arcade feel. The game is optimal for children 6 to 10 years old. It has 6 different game modes. The puzzles range from easy to advanced. You can work with words in English and Spanish. That is important, since we are trying to teach our son Spanish. Bilingualism is so important. He will have hours of fun with this once he get the hang of it. I think it will be a nice family game for us to play together. This one takes 3 AA batteries.
Lastly, we have the Jump N’ Jam Jungle mat. I got to play with this. It is for children ages three to 5, but I can see me and my son having a blast with it. There are five game mods for your child to develop their listening, memorization, and following directions skills. Your child also gets to practice their shapes and colors. I think it’s one of the best interactive mats I have seen for a child. It takes the most power, with 4 AA batteries. Not a problem for those of us who use rechargeables.
All in all some really good learning toys. I know that he is going to FLIP when he sees them. I better get some more batteries before Christmas, though. I need MY batteries to take pictures!

The Slanket is pretty much the same thing I do with my robe. I usually just turn it around and cover myself up. I hate feeling frozen all the time. I think I won’t buy one of these. I am industrial enough to make one myself. I found this through a new blog I might have to add to my reader called Domestic Diva. I just thought it was funny to see my robe idea being sold for like $45.

I just got in on one of the 3 contests being held at JustNotMartha.com. My contest of choice? The Votive Candles contest. I really love candles and melts so this is the one for me. There are some beautiful scents on the candles site.
I am thinking I might want to try for the Snowmen, too. I have an affinity for snowmen this year. I was hoping to be able and get a whole heap of snowman decorations for the house. These are so cute I could just hug them.
