You know, I have been wondering what other people think money is. I mean, the value to them. Like, for instance, I can go to Walmart with $20 specifically for yarn, get about nine skeins *used to be ten, but they went up in price a bit*, and that was a shopping spree to me. Being able to go to the grocer and spend $150 to fill my house with food makes me feel like I have more than enough to get us through 3 weeks of the month.
What is the value of your money? Where do you find that money serves you best? How does it free you or constrict you? I mean, if I could take that $150 from the food bill and use it for yarn and craft stuff, I think I might just pass out. I would buy balls of wool without thinking about the fact that it is six to twelve dollars to equal my two dollar acrylic skein.
If I could double the $150 I use for food to $300, I would have Velveeta shells and cheese stashed in one cabinet all to itself. All kinds of flavored coffees ground at the store would be in my coffee cabinet. I usually settle for the less tasty cousins of of a few things, and those are things that would get automatically upgraded. Not everything, but a few things.
I have grown up on a budget mentality, where I will search hi and lo for a better price before I settle for the one in front of me. I am the person at the checkout who is in a hurry but has ten things to get placed back on the shelves because I found something less expensive but nearly as good somehwere else in the store. Coupons are great, but I prefer those shopping cards or invisible automatic coupons. I get giddy for even a few cents off the marked price. I am extensively pleased when I get a surprise discount at the checkout counter.
I would love to hear thoughts on this.

The Man bought Coby a set of cute squeaky ball toys for Christmas. Each one looks like a ball from a different sport. I think they are going to be a big hit with Coby at Christmas. I don’t think we will wrap them, but I bet you that when he sees the box he will know it’s his. He usually does!

It has been an awesomely fantastic week in my home and my heart.
- I got the present that my husband wanted for a ridiculously bargain price. I am so glad that I got one of the two things he actually asked for this year. I got paid from one of my jobs a few days early so I had enough to make the payment in time for the package to be sent out for Christmas.
- I was able to make oatmeal cookies with my son last night. He requested to make them with me and I had enough butter to do it, so they are done and delicious.
- I was able to get my last rehabilitation of loan payment moved to my next payday because I didn’t have the full amount this week.
- I finished the surprise for my therapist and it’s all packed to go. I get to see her and my brand new psychiatrist back to back on the 20th. That type of scheduling has NEVER happened before. I am so happy that it is on the day my husband has off.
- I have an awesome set of ideas for this video I need to do in order to win this foam mattress. We really need it badly, so please pray with us that we are able to get it!
- Our tree is up, Christmas is nearly here, and only ONE non expensive ball has fallen casualty to my child. The dog only peed on the tree once and I was able to clean that right up.
- The sun is back, which means my disposition is more cheery than it has been.
- My friend gets out of the slammer on the 20th.
- The dog has not shown any signs of being in pain. He was wincing the other day, now he is back to his old running around like a maniac self.
- I had enough money to get myself a double frappucino at the store and Ferrero Rondnoir were on sale for 1.99/dozen. If you haven’t tasted them, you don’t know why I am over here shouting about them LOL
- I have an awesome set of friends online who are the best people anyone could ever ask to know.
There is probably more, but I am so full of the blessings and joy of God that I can hardly contain it. I am finally back to the mountaintop. Thank You Jesus.
