My son turned 5 today and I took him on a lovely adventure. Everything was a surprise.

Daddy showed up with a remote control helicopter…the one he has been seeing on television and wishing for FOREVER. He was disappointed that he couldn’t play with it outside as it was raining, but he got to spend some time with his dad before he had to go back to work.

Then it was MY turn to take him and have a good time!

First we went to Toys R Us so he could get his birthday King crown and balloon. He also used his gift card to buy toys he wanted. He was very calculated in his thinking and ended up with 3 toys he is very pleased with …in 20 minutes! I thought we would be at least an hour.

Then we headed over to the bowling alley. We both did the first game together. It was his first time bowling. He got one strike and scored a 75. The second game he did 1/2 by himself then he got tired. He had a 38 and then we finished up his last few frames.

Next we drove over to Bob Evans to get some grub, where my sisters and mom joined us late into our dinner to have a mini surprise party. He had just asked me if he could go visit them, then they showed up. We went to their house to finish up our birthday fun.

It was awesome. He was so happy! All in all a fabulous day.

Happy birthday, my sweet boy!

My mother in law was telling me that now she is on short term disability. I was wondering if there was any term insurance for situations like this. She is so sick and there is probably no way she will ever be able to go back to work again. My father in law now has Lyme’s disease and a touch of Alzheimers. My father apparently has a touch of Alzheimers, too. I swear, if it ain’t one thing…

I hate waiting for people. It irks me. The worst is when you don’t know what time they are actually going to arrive…other than “today”.

that’s what I did yesterday… I found the most awesome deal on dyed spinning fiber at Woolbearers. There was 2 ounces of lime and violet romney, but then I saw this:

*drools* it was only 60 cents more since there was more fiber in it. It has flecks of dark green in it, too. It’s so pretty I nearly cried. It’s one of the best buys I have ever seen on dyed fiber. Gas going there is less than shipping, so I hope to visit there every month or so to see if they have anything I can get for myself. I still plan to buy from spunkyeclectic, but not dyed wool. :D

I still have to go to the store and finish buying things for the house. I have just been trying luxuriate in the fact that I haven’t had to move too fast the last few days. I have to get a lamp STILL …we are such slackers. I think the dog needs some new pet supplies, like a few more stuffed toys. That dog is so hard on toys! I want to go buy some more soy milk for my son before he comes back home tomorrow. There are so many things on my mind to do. Now if I could just finish up what I have to do in the house before I go, that would meake a huge difference.

not like “omg look how old you are” dating. I mean taking myself out on a date. That’s what I did yesterday. I went far far away to the yarn shop I had been dying to visit. I bought myself some lunch, then headed over to my sister’s college to chill with her for the rest of the night. I got home around 2:30 in the morning from a long, fulfilling day. I am so happy that I finally did that. It has been a while since I was able to just relax and do what I like to do alone.

Ever pay attention to the little televisions some places have with advertisements being shown on them in the store? I was thinking about the usefulness of digital signage for things like podcasts. If I wanted to show off my podcast, couldn’t I put it on a television like those in Walmart. People often write down the web addresses of things they are interested in from those presentations. They also capture a person’s attention moreso than a flyer or a business card. What do you all think?

Got our taxes (some of them) back today. Glad that I can finally go shopping WHOOHOO. Ordered my Creative Knitting magazine today. That was a present from Christmas that Hubby just gave me. I have a ton of other things I have to do, pay on, and deal with but I am just glad we have it so we can get things done.We got back a bit more than we had been estimated to get, so that was a nice surprise, too.
