The market is slim

Which market? The job market!!! I have been looking for more jobs online. Legitimate work at home jobs are kind of hard to come by. Most of them want something from you first, usually money. I have been able to maintain at least 2 jobs online since 2003. I was really hoping to be able to expand that recently, but it’s not as easy as it used to be!

Reading projects

I keep giving myself reading goals to keep my brain working LOL! Right now I am in the Remix devotionals, Light from Heaven, and catching up on my Old Schoolhouse magazine subscription. I am also taking 2 free Bible courses online, which is another nice addition to what I am doing. This is in addition to homeschooling our sweetie and learning our parts for choir! Keeping the synapses busy!

Getting up early

Getting up at 7:30 in the morning DOES NOT agree with me! LOL! I have seen the extent of what dark circles look like this week. The fact that I used to get home at that time in the morning from work or partying before I got back with Christ amazes me still! I would get home late and go back to work that same day without missing a beat. It’s not like that now! I get back from where I gotta go and end up falling asleep on the couch for 2 hours! Oh 30, how I love thee :P

Homeschool fun again

Been working on some things in math that are a bit confusing, but he is plugging along just fine. I am happy that he mostly gets it. Today we are working on some pre-algebra forms such as :

? -7 = 2

16 – ? = 9

Lots of fun! He is doing alright, though. Glad to say that it’s not that big a deal this year :D

Mind going a million miles

I might just have to consider using sleeping pills if my brain doesn’t slow down in the next hour or so. I have to wake up early tomorrow and I am not going to be very nice if I can’t get to sleep to start with! AUGH! SOOOO I am going to do my best to pray myself to sleep.

Watching tv w/ the hubs

It’s a show that Farrah Fawcett happens to be on. I am sad she is gone. It’s a show from 2008…and she looks disoriented. :( Poor thing.

Channel surfing over I see some actress being interviewed on a talk show. I don’t think I have ever seen her before.

Now over to the top ten of the night with a crazy Baldwin on the couch. Fun stuff.

Yeah this post is just here because I never talk about stuff anymore, and I probably should. I miss blogging like I used to, but life happens!

Once upon a Sabbath

When I was growing up, we attended a Saturday keeping church. Two different ones, as a matter of fact. The one we stayed at the longest was the one that my mother grew up attending. It was nice to see how the church community got together in their pretty long skirts and luxurious hats.

I was often asked WHY about the long skirts. Let me tell you, those skirts helped to teach me the modicum of modesty. They helped to show me that being a lady doesn’t include having to show everything you have to the world. Those skirts reminded me that it’s not the things you wear, but the content of your character that should matter. Mind you, I wasn’t wearing ugly skirts. I always chose clothes that were becoming a young lady, that showed I could look classy without making the look the main focus of my life.

I have long since switched churches, but those foundational principles of modesty never changed.

Kid sitter

It’s funny how since I have been in NY I have done the whole kid-sitting in the person’s house thing TWICE now, but when I was in NJ all the time that wasn’t even going to happen. The only times I had kids at my house overnight was when I had my nephew, and once my niece came along. That wasn’t a whole week as it has been the 2 times I have kid-sat. Mind you, it has been teens or pre-teens both times I have done this in NY…and God knows that’s the best thing I could do since kids under 11 are not my forte!
