Easy outs

I have been watching my buddy Dr. Oz in search of his advice on natural diet supplements. I have found a plethora of information. The problem sometimes is just finding the things he is talking about without using all my money online. It is making me get more interested in the local markets of New York. I have not really ventured out much into the world here yet, but I plan to very soon!

Veggie tales revisited

YAY We got the sequel to Little Joe. Little Moe is adorable. I am loving this movie! How creative is it to relate the Moses story to something related to Dodgeball. I especially love it when our son gets the analogies and tells us the related Bible story.

Miss my plants

I miss my plants SO much. I always had at least ONE flower or SOMETHING growing in my home. I have been really longing for an herb garden. My hubby got me the setup for the upside down tomatoes. It’s making me look into hydroponic systems, since apartments aren’t really the BEST place to have soil hanging around. I did some hydroponic work when I was younger as part of my science experiments. I might revisit those techniques to achieve my goal. Lots of things to think about on that front… hope to have a definitive plan in the near future.

Commercials got me thinking

These commercials really have me thinking hard about how much I pay for things like insurance. I have been hearing stories that certain vehicle insurance quotes allow you to pay up to 500 dollars less a year for car insurance. Sounds really good to me! I am going to be taking the initiative to re-evaluate our insurance policy before the next renewal in January to see if we could possibly save money by switching from our present supplier. Honestly, I hope we have the best rate just so I don’t have to switch, but if I find out otherwise … a switching we will go.

Without a trace

I know there is free internet in the Poconos, but I am hard pressed to find it other than at this one place where I sit right now. I had so much to blog about, but couldn’t keep it in my brain long enough to transcribe. I hate when that happens. Right now, I am still glowing over the weekend I had in Connecticut. I have pictures, but alas, I have neglected to bring them with me right now. I will have to make sure to have them on Friday when I get to another location so I can upload them.

Fall season favorite: Baked Apples

appleEVERYONE seems to love baked apples. My mother and I have used a very simple recipe for just this time of the season. It quenches our desire for baked apples and a cute, quick treat.

All you need is apples, cinnamon, sugar, a little butter, and a baking pan.

First, you take the center of the apple out with a knife or apple corer. You want to make sure that you have enough space to stuff it while making sure not to go through the apple bottom.

Then, you stuff the hole that you made with cinnamon and sugar. I like to layer mine inside so it has dynamics to the flavor.

Next, put a dollop of butter on top right inside the hole. It will bubble and melt down into the inside part of the apple as it cooks.

Lastly, place all the apples on a baking sheet. Put in an oven about 325 degrees (preheated) on the middle rack.

Test them until they are as soft as you want them. I like them fork tender so they still have a little stiff bite to them.

ENJOY :D

Review: Salt

WOW. I was impressed with this movie. The cinematography was intense. I loved the fact that there was no nudity and a bare minimum of curse words. The whole thing was completely centered around the plot and nothing else. The movie surely kept you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.

Angelina was phenomenal in her action role, as usual. I adore her in action movies. Mila Jovovich and Angelina Jolie are pretty much tied for my all time favorite female action heroes.
