When you look back through the Postie Carnival, you will see that the very first edition was posted on January 1st 2007. Hunna had the brilliant idea that we posties, those who have been affiliated with PayPerPost, should showcase our writing talents all in one place. The fun part is that the carnival is still going on to this very day.

Postie hosts usually pick a theme that is near and dear to their hearts. Then other posties get to share their love for the same. We have had some great themed and non-themed carnivals over the past year.

The carnival has been featured at least 3 times on the central Blog Carnival website. It is being showcased once again on the 20th of this month. Here is a look back through all the Carnivals from the very beginning:

  • First Postie Carnival it was an non-themed carnival with some great posts.
  • Worthy Causes and Charities edition was hosted by little ol’ me. This was in honor of freedom fighter Martin Luther King, Jr.
  • Free for all carnival was hosted by Marcus on his blog and some interesting things from the news are showcased.
  • Pets edition was hosted by Marisa. Lots of people showed off their animals as well as info for helping animals live happy lives.
  • Music edition was hosted by Amy, who loves music herself. Go and enjoy the in tune posts she received for that carnival day.
  • Television edition was hosted by Colleen. Lots of posties shared their television love here.
  • Food edition was hosted by Retta. She is a cook and mother who loves to try new foods. Everyone was able to share their love for food in this edition.
  • The love edition was hosted by Lisa. Talking about love got many a postie nostalgic and teary eyed. Definitely an edition worth revisiting.
  • What you love about your job edition was short but sweet. I hope that if this comes up again, more people love their jobs enough to talk about it.
  • The delayed carnival was also a shortie but a goodie. That’s when it came back here to roost for the first time since it began.
  • Neighborhood happenings edition was hosted by the well known Skeet. It was neat to find out what was happening around the world with other posties.
  • Just in time for Father’s Day, Jenn made sure that the Carnival of Fathers was posted. Not a dry eye to be had after that carnival…believe me.
  • After a small summer hiatus, the carnival showed up here again as another open carnival.
  • Finally, the carnival came back to the originator, Hunna. I was glad to see it back where it began.
  • The summer vacation edition was a great one that showed off all the places people went over the summer. Now you can see why we took a hiatus :D
  • How you earn money from your blogs edition wasn’t as huge as we thought it would be. Apparently, not many people want to give up their secrets ;)

And now I am hosting it again here. The next edition will be yet another huge edition all about Halloween hosted by Lisa. Some new hosts are coming through soon, too. Make sure to revisit all the great carnival editions we have had…big and small. Every one of them is a gem in its own right. Thanks to Hunna and the posties who participate. It’s been a joy to read through everyone’s blogs and get to know them this year.

Welcome to the October 8, 2007 edition of postie carnival. In this edition, I asked that everyone represent their blogs with one of the posts they feel is exceptional and shows their personality best. I figure that most of you read my blog already, so I am not going to add my post into this edition. Let’s get started, shall we?

net issues

CyberCelt presents Open the Internet to Everyone! posted at Endangered Spaces, saying, “Cybercelt wants everyone to know what is at stake with Net Neutrality.” It’s a huge issue right now, and every webber should be aware of what is at stake.

Mathew Butka presents The allure of gaming Digg posted at Adventures Of A Stay At Home Dad. Many people online think it’s okay to just game stats and things in order to get higher rankings on sites like Digg. Make sure you take a read through this article to find out more.

valmg presents How to add a favorite icon to your Wordpress blog address posted at Computer Chit Chat, saying, “for anyone else that at one point wondered how to do this”…I know I am one that always has to look up the code to add in for one of those cutesy little icons to show up in the address bar of a browser. Check out an easy way to get one for your own site.

charitable functions

Lisa presents Books For Charity posted at My Thoughts, Ideas, and Ramblings. It’s always good to give the gift of reading.

blogging

Eaglehawk presents How-To: DMCA Notices posted at Flight of The Eaglehawk. This is a must read about copyrighting your work. Anyone who has any writings or artwork online will want to find out more about this.

misc.

Elvis D presents Rapper posted at 365fiction. This one comes with a “not work safe” warning for language and subject matter. It’s a story about a rapper with interesting twists and turns.

Lisa presents What is this a picture of? | My Thoughts, Ideas, and Ramblings posted at My Thoughts, Ideas, and Rambligns. The pictures will freak you out, until you read what it’s all about.

Jorge presents National Association of Realtors Out of Touch with Reality posted at My Adventures into The Street, saying, “Small rant on how realtors care about the bottom line instead of their clients”. It’s stirring up a bit of controversy, and is so worth reading.

2xKnight presents Trailers are better than movies. » FanaticSpace.com - Blog posted at FanaticSpace.com Blog, saying, “Some of the coolest parts of the Iron Man movie trailer aren’t in the movie. WTF?”. *sigh* This has been happening with more and more movies, sadly enough.

Jenny presents Babysitter Memo Tile posted at the so called me. This is a good idea for parents to check out.

Kenneth presents Coupon Codes + Coupon Websites = Money In Your Pocket? | InvestorBlogger posted at InvestorBlogger. This is an interesting take on how to make coupons work for you for longer than your time online.

Joana presents Is There Really No Such Thing? posted at Nanashi-Inc.net. Moral? Immoral? You be the judge.

personal

Anthony presents The Lives and Times… of Anthony McCune: A Visit to The McCune Collage Gallery posted at The Lives and Times… of Anthony McCune. Interesting collages made by his own hand. Check them out.

Martin presents 96 Tears: Part 1 posted at TotalDismay.com, saying, “I’m spending the week trying to post about all the different times that I have cried. It’s pretty cheery subject matter :)”. I love Martin’s unique ideas for writing material. Check this idea out and follow him through his crying history.

Injustice Welcome to the October 5th edition of the Carnival of Injustice. Many posts came in this time, and so many injustices were spotlighted. Read them and see what you can do to help stop these abhorrent issues from recurring.

global

Sidhusaaheb presents Of Human Bondage posted at I, Me, Myself. In his own words he says it best “Evidently, exploitation as a policy of management is still being practised in so-called corporate India”.

Phil B. presents The True Reasons for Terrorism, Why Terrorism Fails, and How to Stop Terrorism « Phil for Humanity posted at Phil for Humanity, saying, “The True Reasons for Terrorism, Why Terrorism Fails, and How to Stop Terrorism”

vjack presents Army Violates Religious Freedom posted at Atheist Revolution, saying, “Even though they may know little else about history, science, or law, most Americans can tell you that religious freedom had something to do with the founding of America. The critical truth that they often fail to realize is that freedom of religion requires freedom from religion. How sad it is then to see the American military violating the religious freedom of our young men and women in uniform.”

Jon Swift presents Burma Schmurma posted at Jon Swift, saying, “I’m just as bored by what’s happening in Burma as most liberal bloggers seem to be.” Take a look and see why he says so.

john fossella presents Leticia’s statement posted at vidacomesperanca.org, saying, “Child malnourishment remains a persistent injustice across globe. Leticia Ribeiro and John Fossella have begun to blog on this matter in their service of malnourished children in the Pituacu region of Salvador, Brazil.”

Romeo Vitelli presents In a Flash posted at Providentia, saying, “Being in the wrong place at the wrong time”

Anthony presents George W. Bush’s war must stop! Because there is no military solution for Iraq. posted at The Lives and Times… of Anthony McCune. An interesting, heart wrenching photo collage. Take the time to look through these and understand the meaning behind the photos.

Jerry Novick presents The Power Of Accusation posted at BentSense. This article profiles the strength of words to legally condemn a person.

local

Ian Welsh
presents Police Culture In the US posted at The Agonist. An objective look at what the police are here as compared to other countries.

Charles H. Green presents Trust, Freedom and Resentment posted at Trust Matters, saying, “A true story of injustice rectified and the personal lesssons we can take away.”

Alex Landis presents The Jena 6: The 10 Reasons The Fit Hit The Shan posted at AlexLandis.com, saying, “Alex Landis give the 10 reasons that the Jena 6 incidents got out of control.” This is one I had bookmarked before the carnival began.

Marcella Chester presents Another Exonerated Man Found Guilty posted at abyss2hope: A rape survivor’s zigzag journey into the open, saying, “Exonerations of the truly innocent are wonderful events, but there is a danger of confusing “not enough evidence” with “proof of innocence and trustworthiness” and as this recent case shows children can face great danger from the exonerated.”

Stacie Turner presents Avery Doninger, the First Amendment and Some ‘Douchbags’ posted at The Twinkies. The first amendment taken too far? Take a read and see for yourself. Some language is not work safe.

Neil Ransom presents SLC Refugee Relocation posted at Kate and Neil’s Official Website, saying, “Just an interesting thing that happens in the US that very few people know about.”

Marcella Chester presents Overreaction To The Irate And The Clumsy? posted at abyss2hope: A rape survivor’s zigzag journey into the open, saying, “The high school girl who had her wrist broken after not cleaning up the crumbs to the security guard’s standards is a clear example of why the “got to show them who has the power” model is harmful when used against those who are not dangerous criminals or a violent threat to others. Fortunately, there is an alternative approach to conflict resolution that has been demonstrated in Crisis Intervention Teams.”

I entered a post into the Erace Racism Carnival being hosted on ReadingWritingLiving. The submission count is so large, it had to be posted in two different posts. If you didn’t think racism existed, you will definitely see and understand that it is still alive and burning all over the world. Take the time to read and see what you can do to help erase racism.

I am getting all kinds of comments, some insidious and some educated, about the Jena 6 issue. Some of them show that people are not looking at the whole story, but only jumping to conclusions bases on a small amount of information. It’s a shame that all that has transpired isn’t being taken into account. Many people seem to think that freeing the Jena 6 means they will get off without consequence, but that isn’t what we are rallying for…it’s for JUSTICE. Equal and fair justice.

I am still waiting for word on what DID actually occur in the courthouse yesterday, as there has only been mention of the march in Jena, Louisiana. I was just reading Justice in Jena site, and they have stories and video on what transpired outside the courthouse yesterday. I must say that I am rather pleased with the turnout, only wishing I was part of the throng.

In a way, we were…those of us who took the time to blog about the injustice.

The first carnival was a success. The next Carnival of Injustice is already shaping up well for the first Friday in October. The main focus will be injustices toward children. I am sure I will have plenty of entries for that.

Has anyone heard what actually happened in the courtroom yesterday?
