The Toys for Tots Campaign at Vimo is donating one dollar for every doctor that is rated on their website. The dollar goes to Toys for Tots. They have a lofty goal of $1 million dollars. I don’t see any doctors, so I can’t rate any but you all can. I know there are plenty of you that see doctors on a regular basis. Even if you don’t feel like it, do it for the kids.
A few stipulations:
- You can only rate 3 doctors for a max of $3 per reviewer.
- The review needs to be original
- The review has to have at least 100 characters *not words* about the doctor’s performance.

Funny how I was just talking about her blog and today she is blogged about an opportunity for everyone to help out. Colleen is looking for help to reach her goal of $2200 for the breast cancer awareness and research campaign. If you feel so inclined to get on the bandwagon, she is looking for 108 people to donate $20 each so she will reach her goal before the deadline next year. Even if you can’t give $20, you can still donate any amount on her official fundraiser page.

I keep forgetting to go to the forums that I am part of because I am forever checking out blogs! I have so many blogs on my list it’s nearly insanity. I read the payperpost blog along with the list in my RSS reader. I only mention it now because I just read an article there about the Touch a Truck charity event. They took the payperpost blue monster. The charity benefits the Ronald McDonald House. I totally support that, because my sister had to deal with them when she was smaller. I think it’s great that people find the time to do things like this. A few of my other blog buddies support charities as well. Colleen walks for breast cancer. You can read all about her charity efforts on 3 Day Mom. Ann supports a hunger relief foundation called Heifer International.
Bloggers effect phenomenal amounts of change in our world. Let’s show some support for them as they try and save lives.

That’s the song that is on the radio right now.. Hold on, help is on the way. I guess the people in India can feel that way now, too. The group called Volunteer India is working to help the people of India. They have year round programs for volunteers to go down and help out.
Programs are available year round, and start dates are entirely flexible. The minimum length of stay is one week. The maximum stay is six months per visit. After six months, you can leave the country and return immediately for another six-month stay.
They have programs for teaching, orphanages, health care, and even a cultural tour. If you are into missions trips, India could be just the place for you to go.

There are many reasons why one would want to wear Memorial Bracelets. It seems that there is one to remember every tragedy in our country. Some people are wearing these bracelets because they want to remember that freedom is not free. Others are wearing them because they want to remember people in their lives who have not survived these incidents, like one person who wears theirs to symbolize that the death of their coworkers was not in vain.
I was reading around and found a lot of touching stories behind why people are wearing the bracelets. The one that I identified with most was the one by Jeff, who is wearing his bracelet because there is no greater love than for one to give up his own life for his friend. Being a believer in Jesus, I really feel this statement on a personal and spiritual level. If only for that reason, I know a lot of you will probably agree with the use of the bracelets.
I am totally for us buying these mementos of people
who have passed as a result of tragedies like the terrorist attacks and wars we have had in this country. It is good to be reminded that others had to lay down their lives for us to live so freely.
My father’s brother perished in war, my father in law lived through war, and many of my other family members have either lived or died through wars. Just recently my cousin in law lived through his time in Iraq. I even went to the wall in Washington with my father to see if his brother’s name was there. We had to apply to get his name on the wall. It broke his heart not to see his brother commemorated, and it broke mine to see him in such grief over it. That is why I give to the Veterans whenever I can.
If you decide to contribute to the cause, be aware that $2 from each sale goes to a charity that supports victims of war and terrorism…over $50K has already been contributed to the fund from the sale of the Memorial bracelets.

Today is the last day of October and therefore the last day of a few different eventful things like Breast Cancer Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, and a bunch of others that I didn’t feel like looking up.
The two I mentioned are the most important in my mind:
Reminder 1: Even though this month is over, there are still many people who are working for a cure, better treatments, and living through cancer every day. Take a minute and do a search for blogs about these extraordinary people like the one I shared before Breast Cancer Victory.
Reminder 2: Many people didn’t know it was Hispanic month til it was half over. Remember that there are many hispanics in our midst and we would do well to treat them equally. There is a lot of stigma against different races within the hispanic heritage. So many stereotypes are placed upon them. STOP and think about how you would want to be treated and treat everyone as a brother, sister, mother, father, or friend…
thus ends my PSA for the day LOL
God speed

I came across a thrift store in Texas where you can donate things for charity. They are a lot like the Salvation Army and Goodwill. The Houston Charity Center is a Charity Thrift store, Donation Pickup, Car Donations site. They pride themselves on “providing food, clothing and household goods (Free of charge) to those in need and a bargain
shopping experience for its loyal supporters.” I love stores like this and shop there as much as I can so I can get a bargain AND help those in need at the same time. If you live in their area, you can schedule a pick up here.

I write alot about my issues with depression, and I know that at least a few of us have dealt with health issues. Some of us have even had to deal with cancer either directly or indirectly.
Today I want to point your attention to a blog that is about a woman who is winning the fight with breast cancer. Breast Cancer Victory is a blog by a woman named Sylvie who is in the fight of her life. She has been going through mentally and physically, but still finds the time to make sure that we have breast cancer information. She has already undergone a mastectomy, and is currently being treated for the spread of the cancer. She is a remarkable woman who I believe will survive this war on cancer.
For your information:
The National Cancer Institute estimates that there were over 2.3 million breast cancer survivors still surviving in Januar
y 2002. Some of them were even cancer free. Breast Cancer Fact Sheet 05/06
So you go Sylvie and win the war on breast cancer!
