So I guess Coby got a little upset when his new daddy left for a meeting and he decided that pooping on the living room floor was his only option. Mind you, we took him out 5 times yesterday after we got him and once this morning before hubby left. He didn’t poop not once outside. I made him sniff it and told him that was bad and put him in a temporary *I’m not playing with you till it sinks in* mode. He is all better now, we played, and he is fast asleep on the floor comforted by the sounds of my keyboard tapping away.
Something told me that he thought we were all gone and I got up to find he had just finished his business on my carpet. My door was completely closed since the baby was in my room and we were trying to sleep. This is why I woke up at 7am. *sigh* poor furbaby.
He isn’t into that gentle leader contraption, either. I am still going to get him a soft muzzle, but I want him used to the gentle leader just in case I don’t get the muzzle soon enough. He totally freaked when I put it on him last night. I am also looking forward to what he will act like when I give him a bath. I am wondering if he will be okay in the tub. Anyone ever use the Shed Ender? I was thinking about getting it. I also wanted to get natural products for the dog’s hair/skin. I was thinking about the Derma products. Dunno. Decisions, decisions.

Petfinder PetNotes
German Shepherd Dog,Corgi Mix
Size: Medium
Age: Young
Gender: Male
ID:
Notes: Cobi is kind of laid back (like his ears). He is a German Shepard/Corgi mix who is about a year and a half old and weighs about 60 pounds. Due some unknown heritage, he has a very short tail but it was not cropped. We have been forced to give him up due to a family situation. He is very loving and gives kisses. He walks well on a leash but prefers going for a run. We generally walk by busy streets so he is not skittish around traffic. He gets excited when we pass other people, dogs or bikes but has not been aggressive in these situations. He is very interested in our cat… to the point of stalking her. Although he has cornered her several times, he has never harmed her. He is fabulous with our children (ages 2 and 4). He has been tolerant of them taking things from him and being generally annoying. He loves to be involved in playtime. He is house trained, however, we do keep him in the crate when we are out of the house. When he is left alone, he will find something to chew on. He hasn’t gone for furniture or anything major but many small toys have met their end. He generally obeys the commands “leave-it, sit, and wait”. As long as there is a treat involved, he will go in the crate without any trouble. He enjoys being a part of the family. He is really a sweetheart and loves to be loved. Adoption contact required.

YAY So we finally got Coby this morning. One whole day early. We got to Camp Waggin Tails around 11:30 AM and got to talk to the owner about whatever I needed to know for him to be successful in our home. He is aggressive toward other animals, but I know with time he will be able to stifle that in order to be more controlled when he is around others. He is so sweet and such a calm dog. He can get really excited, though, and he doesn’t bark. He does whine. He is a rescue so I have to be careful with abandonment issues. He wasn’t abused, just neglected. My husband has already taken him for a few walks without a muzzle and so far he is pretty tame. I do have the gentle leader for when I take him for walks. Right now he is trying to get used to the house and figuring out how to sleep in the new distractions he has here. He is a good listener, and you don’t have to command him more than twice to do anything.

The same pictures are on my photos page. This one just has them in a nice slide show. He is already really happy and he knows he is safe. He loooves my husband. He is going to be a great addition to our family.
His given name was Boromir. His whole family was named after Lord of the Rings characters LMBO. He is Aries like me and hubby. Funny, no? I knew it from the moment I saw him LOL.

Dog? *next to my Coby, that is*
Click the link to see a gallery full of Puggles. They are half Pug half Beagle. I have never heard of them until today. How precious! Makes me wish I could have two dogs instead of just one…but I know the one will be enough work as it is haha.
By the way, I have some questions… Read the rest of this entry »

Coffee came today. Two bags of it. “I’m so excited I could spit!” <-from To Wong Foo
Lookee!
It’s decaf so I can drink more of it than I can my other coffees. It smells so divine. I am going to have a cup before the day is over.

We met Coby today and he was even sweeter than I thought he would be. My son wasn’t even afraid of him. Coby kept sneaking up on him and licking his nose, to which little Taz would make a funny face, grab his nose, and exclaim “He likes me!”.
We spent about an hour with Coby getting his information, the best vet in the area, the best type of food…when would he have to come in again for a booster for rabies… and all that normal stuff you talk about when you are about to get a dog.
He became accustomed to our presence rather quickly, even though he was trying to get the cat LOL He even started to lean on my legs and lay on my shoes. Every time he would get up to see where the cat was, he would come back and sit right between my feet. He is alot like my late Wolfie but much less jumpy. I can’t wait to bring him home.
In the next 2 weeks we will be rearranging a few things in the house and “dog-training” our son so that he will remember to keep small objects out of Coby’s way.

I really want to get this beautiful creature for our home:
Isn’t he gorgeous? I really really really want him to come home with us soon. Keep it in your prayers for us, would you? He is an awesome dog. We will meet face to face next week. I can hardly wait. I can already see how well he will fit in with our family. I just adore him already. My son saw his picture and said “The doggie loves me, and I love him, too” This is without me saying anything about getting the dog or wanting to. He just saw the picture and said it. I showed him other dogs, but this is the ONLY one he had that reaction with. I am on pins and needles! He is to be one of my 2 Christmas presents from my husband. The other will end up being my camera to take pictures of the gorgeous new addition to our family. Keep your fingers crossed!!!
