I just got back about an hour ago. My mother and I went with my son to see my nephew play guitar. He was great. I have to say that I am impressed with his progress. I gave him a gift card to get hopped up on caffeine one day as a reward for being such a great nephew and for having the guts to show off his talent. The entire show was okay, but my highlight was my nephew. He went second with his act. I only recorded his part, even though there were at least 3 other acts that deserved a standing O. The video should show up shortly:

Being an independent musician isn’t always the best thing for one to be. I tend to be on the lookout for places that are made specifically to promote and discover new talent. There are Musicians Wanted at Music.com - Get Discovered, and get your music heard. My husband is trying to get his music to reach further than just the east coast. I am going to run this by him and see if he is interested in trying it out. It’s free, so it can’t hurt, right?

My friend Julie pointed out this hilarious video of Sanjaya Malakar from American Idol on Saturday Night Live:
Thanks, Jules. I needed that laugh!

*sigh* You already know how I love classical music. I have shared my favorite composers with you before. I also love to try and follow along with their sheet music. I was looking at some phenomenally priced sheet music at Everynote. I was shocked to find that they have over 100,000 pieces in their collection for your downloading pleasure. My all time favorite composer Mozart is there as well. If I could share every piece that moves me on this small part of the web I would. There are so many great composers but most don’t move me like Mozart. I use it to help me meditate and get over the anxiety or depression in my life. I can close my eyes and let the notes take me to sandy shores with waves lapping lightly around me. I can let the music launch me into outer space where there is nothing but weightless ecstasy… I guess that’s why I placed Music under Obsession in my categories.

Whenever I watch American Idol I end up bawling my eyes out. Is it because of my own dream deferred? Is it because the singers are so bad there is no way to stop the tears from falling? Is it because the good singers are so good that tears spring to my ears from their melodies? Maybe it’s all of the above. I have always wanted to try out for AI but I have never tried to even get there. Time, money, sacrifice…to be canned or hated on? I dunno. I have a mini nervous break down as I live vicariously through my favorites. I vote dutifully, watch faithfully, and cheer them on to the end. Maybe I am only going to be a local celeb, or maybe not at all. If it’s gonna happen let it happen soon cuz I am nearly 30 and time is ticking. Twenty more years and I am 50 so what will I have to show for my life then? Will I be proud of what I have accomplished or will I be broken, beaten, and giving up? Only time will tell…
See what AI does to me?
