Recently I began a mission to record things for posterity in the form of scrapbooks and such. I also wanted to get children’s books with my son’s name in them. I think it’s a good idea to get children involved in what they are reading, and have something they can look back on and feel happily nostalgic. It would go in with his scrapbook. So far, I am nearly finished the one about me, then on to the one about his father. After that I will worry about getting all the digital pictures of him into a book. Fun fun stuff!

Yesterday, in celebration of my grandmother’s birthday (RIP) I went out with my buddies Brenna and Lisa to their weekly trivia night up at:

Trivia Night by you.

There I was able to meet the lovely friends of Bren who I have heard about for years:

Trivia Night by you.

And meet up with an old friend I haven’t seen since like 1997:

Trivia Night by you.

Whereupon we had giggles and fits till the three rounds (and the final round) of trivia was over. AND WE WON!!! We were team “Why So Serious?” in honor of the new Batman movie.

Trivia Night by you.

We had honey hot wings, there was a beer tower (which I didn’t have any of), a few drinks around the table, a molten chocolate cake dessert with ice cream (mine MMMMM), and french fries. The food was really really good.

There was also the appearance of a hugemungous cicada who landed at the wrong table (next to us) where it was poked and prodded into a screaming fit by the people sitting there. It had fallen between the backboard and the immovable cusion of the bench seat. Poor cicada…dunno if he lived or not.

All in all a great night that only cost me 20 bucks :D Thanks to the Man for sticking it out at home with the Boy, I didn’t have to come back till we were truly done, but I still made it back around 12:30am. Hope I can go again soon!

ohyeah.jpg image by kingzjewel It has literally been years since I partook of Kool-Aid. I just HAD to get some for our trip to Rhode Island, since I wanted something to drink that wasn’t soda. We found the packets for instant Kool-Aid at Fam Dollar, so I bought a box. Boy, is it good. I can’t remember how in the world I ever drank as much as I used to, though. Now, it seems a bit too sugary, a bit too high on the red dye, for me to drink very much at a time. I do remember being a child and asking what kind of Kool-Aid we had, the answer being either red or grape LOL. Ah the memories.

WHEW what a weekend! Saturday was my cousin Tag’s big wedding. He and his wife had been planning it for months. It went off an hour and a half late without a hitch, and everyone had great fun at the reception. Here are the pictures that I took, but I am waiting to snag more from other people as they upload them.

After the reception, we went to pick up my son at my in-law’s house, but stayed to chit chat with the Man’s brother & wife. We didn’t get back until around 3 in the morning. Then we set the alarm for 9 AM for church.

I was the first up, and got everyone else in gear to get to church. The Man stood for his blessing and prayers as well as his present. I didn’t get a picture of us up there because we were ALL up there LOL. After that, it was off to the Powwow, then we hi-tailed it to his parents’ house for the rest of the FaBirthday Festivities (his brother turned 38 yesterday).

We had so much fun, I can hardly tell you about it all.

After my husband got home last night, we decided to “do something”. By the time he took a nap and whatnot, it was too late to go to the mall and window shop. We decided to patronize the local stores that we don’t normally visit.

First, my husband took me to a Spanish food shop that has Puerto Rican food. He heard about it at his job and wanted to try it out. We ordered a plate to go. The food was phenomenal. I make PR food at home, but let’s face it: I’m not Puerto Rican. There is a huge difference between something I learned to make recently and something that someone has been making all their lives. MMMmmmMM. Next, we headed over to the bank to get some cash. Then we went to the Family Dollar to see if there was anything interesting to buy. We got a new pretty welcome mat, some boric acid *damned roaches*, ice pop tray *me and the kid will be doing that for Science*, a little fan *that thing totally kicks*, and a few other things. After that, we headed over to get some movies from the local Block-buster. On the way back, we stopped at Burger King and got a few burgers to hold us over till we got home.

We bought 3 movies: War, Shoot ‘Em Up, and Why Did I Get Married. Holy Crap! Talk about good movies. 3 in a row! Amazing. War was totally twisted. You couldn’t guess the truth if you tried. Shoot ‘Em Up was funny and had a good story line. WDIGM, I saw the play ..but the movie was WAY better.

So that was our date night. We had a great time and went to bed ridiculously late. Fun stuff!
