Happy Birthday MOM!

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

It is officially my mother’s birthday and she doesn’t look a day over 31. You go girl. I praise God for you. You are the most awesome mother. You have not only been my friend, but a great role model as to the way a woman should be. I love you dearly and I pray that I have made/am making you proud!

Happy Apartment Finding day

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

sister valToday my little sister is celebrating the finding of her apartment. She is having an apartment warming party extravaganza. I am mandatorily invited (funny how my sisters keep making my invites mandatory LOL) and get to go with the Kid AND the Man, which is a treat. She only lives about 1/2 hour away from us so it’s pretty awesome that I get to see where she resides and rejoice with her. She is doing such great things. She is holding down a job (or 2), has her own apartment ALONE, is flying through college with good grades, pays her own bills, buys her own food. She is living the all american independent woman’s dream (minus the million dollars LOL). I am so proud of her and the progress she has made. She has a goal and she is working for it. I love it love it love it!!! Keep on moving forward, little sis. You are doing awesome.

Surround sound at my father’s

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

Wow. You would think he had installed home theater seating to go along with that sound! The speakers feel like they are EVERYWHERE. Definitely and totally surrounded by them. I like the tone. I feel like I am in a Maxell commercial every time I step into his living room now. He enjoys it. My dad actually has a huge speaker right next to his chair so he can adjust the sound as he pleases. That guy… LOL

Call me

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

If it weren’t for promotional pens I would probably not have the phone numbers I need. I always lose cards but rarely ever do I lose a pen. I was glad to reach into my purse and pull out the purple pen I got from my therapist when I forgot to call and find out when my appointment was since I lost eh card LOL. YAY for promo pens! (especially purple ones)

Hair care update week July 9th

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

So I decided to get some more things for my hair, because I am switching a few things in my regimen. My hair has never been so soft!

I am still using the Profectiv Strengthener, but have cut down a bit on the use of the Wave Noveau moisturizer. I bought some Olive Oil spray sheen, which is working really well for my hair and a defrizzing gel with no alcoholic content. Joyful stuff! It doesn’t gag my hair at all. I can use it to straighten with the flat iron, blow dry (ut I don’t do that), or just wear natural. Works like a charm.

I even got rained on, and my hair barely puffed. I am having a ball with my hair right now. The short spots are long enough to hold in braids, so I am doing that some days. Just glad to be able to stick with this natural thing.

Wedding: The food

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

I can’t even tell you about all the food available over the weekend. The local fare, the care package in the hotel, the hors d’ ourves at the wedding banquet, the catered barbecue. It was a little overwhelming. If I had known there would be THAT much food I might have made sure to eat some sure fat burners before I got there.

wedding and reception
The wedding feast brought clams, scallops in bacon, quiche, fruits, salads, dips, shrimp, and all kinds of little things that could be eaten quickly. There was plenty of wine and spirits from the time you walked in to the time the party ended. Then there was the dinner! Fabulous, melt in your mouth sea bass was my entree. My husband got the filet mignon, well done of course. He said it was one of the best he has had. I don’t like asparagus, but I found out how much each plate was costing in passing and so I ate everything that was edible on my plate. Waste not, want not.

the picnicThe picnic on Saturday afternoon was catered by a local clambaker called Captain Clamcakes. I didn’t have their clams (I abhor them) but their burgers and fresh salads were good. Their workers were a bit too fond of my nephew, but who can blame them?the picnic

Trying to clean from the weekend

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

Since we left earlier than we thought we would, I didn’t get a chance to clean the house so I wouldn’t have to do it when I got back. *sigh* Well, I think it will have to wait till tomorrow. I have so much stuff to catch up on that I can’t see clear to thoroughly cleaning the toilets right now. I am totally overwhelmed. I will probably throw the dishes into the dishwasher just so I can feel like I cleaned the kitchen.

Finally back in NJ

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

But not for long. We have a trip coming up to go to the Poconos on Saturday, Canada next month, and who knows…we might end up looking at cruise deals before the end of the summer. We had a more than awesome time together up in Rhode Island. The wedding was great, even though it tried to rain on us. The food melted in your mouth. The entertainment was impeccable. I have so much to say and not enough words to speak it all out. I have a heaping load of pictures, too. :D Stay tuned!
