Looking for the right theme

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

I am still playing around with themes for this blog. Sorry for the discombobulation. Somewhere in upgrading, my other theme (that I adored) went wonky and I just don’t have the energy to figure out WHY. So, I am in search of another theme. This one has some type of issue where the first 2 words are above the post title. Other than that, it’s pretty. I guess the search continues.

Time Suck: Plurk

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

Where have I been other than busier than a one armed paper hanger?

Plurking, of course. I have been contemplating starting a wiki page with all the plurkabulary (plurk vocabulary), but I don’t want to do it for nothing LOL.

I have made up a few myself, as others have contributed. Today I decided to plurkrastinate. You can substitute the word plurk in for just about anything. Like WHAT THE PLURK??? Plurkalicious! Plurktopia, Plurkdom, Plurkerville USA, you are such a plurker! and so on. It’s as bad as smurf but not as offensive as the F bomb. You can join the Plurkination by clicking that link.

I miss my laptop *tears*

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

I hate having to sit here every single time I want to mess around on the computer. I miss my laptop. I wish I could upgrade my laptop memory and get the plug fixed so it would charge up. Then I would be able to hook up our wireless router thingy and be in business. Sometimes I just want to relax on the couch and type, ya know? Working sitting upright isn’t always conducive to a productive day for me.

Trying this one out

Saturday, May 17th, 2008
I adore Flock, but it takes FOREVER to open. I guess it’s due to all the stuff it has to offer. I mean, it’ IS a social web browser. Right now I am checking out Firefox 3. It’s still in beta, so I can’t completely switch over till everything I love is supported, but it’s good for when I don’t have a heaping load of work to do online. I will probably write more about it on http://techitlikeaman.com in a few days after I have had a chance to really feel it out.

Voice Over Internet Phone Solutions

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

My mother in law was just asking me about something for her VOIP phone. I didn’t know what to tell her, so I thought I would take a look around the net and see what, if anything, I could possibly do to help. One site that piqued my interest was Talkswitch. Now I know that they have solutions for small business owners as far as phone systems go, but they do carry a good number of different phones that cater to businesses as small as two people.

Personally, my husband and I have a small business that we run from our home. We would truly benefit from a double line calling system that doesn’t require another phone number or my having to get off the internet to use it. The Voice Over Internet Phones that they offer could be right up our alley. My all time favorite product, though, has to be the headsets for the phone. I can’t tell you the number of times I have needed my hands free to do something and not wanted to be on speaker phone due to background noise (i.e. my son). The possibilities for productivity are endless with a second line to put on hold AND a headset? My goodness…

Talkswitch offers service all across the nation and they offer dial tone service. Pretty good if you ask me. Not everyone will continue to serve up dial tone after a while. I hope that at least a few companies continue to keep it as an option for people who don’t want to upgrade to VOIP.

Twitter taking over my Universe

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

Wow there is so much to do with Twitter. I don’t know where to stop! Just put in the word twitter* like that in a search engine and see what you come up with. Then do tweet* and see what happens. There are so many apps out there for Twitterlings it’s just taking over the net. I am guilty of using Twitter, Snitter, Twitterfeed, and various other applications that allow me to use it in a variety of ways. Do you Twitter?

My Explorer Sport: Wifi

Friday, September 14th, 2007

I thought the lady that had the truck before us had some weird way to hook up her radar detectors, but then I found a telephone plug. I was like, umm why?. My husband took a look at it and said “that’s for ethernet”… then it all became clear. The little “radar detecting” antenna in the windshield was actually for:
WIFI!
So, if I ever get my laptop to work (or procure another one) I will be able to hook up via Wifi in the McDs parking lot! HAHA! I love that truck more and more. I just pray it keeps on working.
