I have been testing out new technology for the house. You know we got internet recently. Now that I am all wifi hooked up, I am happy to say we are finally going to be able to get another mobile type device. I was looking into laptops, Asus Tablet PCs, or even getting another netbook like I had before. I will let you know when the deal is done and I have finalized the situation.

Tired of upgrading software
It seems like there is a new build of everything every few days. It’s really annoying. I am extremely tired of looking at upgrade messages all over just about every website I own. *sigh* At least they are improving things. Always look for the silver lining.
On an iDiet
Many people will gasp when they read that I am on any sort of diet. It isn’t the kind of diet in which you need special foods, diet pills, or an exercise plan to succeed. This is an iDiet… meaning that I am doing my best not to go spend all my time on the internet. I am trying to find more ways to spend quality time with my son and husband…as well as with myself. Yesterday I didn’t get online at all. Today, I have to catch up with work and things but yesterday was a great day to be offline. I am hoping to do it again this coming Monday, at least for the most part if not all day. We are planning a trip to Chuck E. Cheese as a surprise for our son doing so well in pretty much everything.
back and forth boogie
Ever since the modem for our phone got struck by lightning, we have been using the other modem we had. It is TERRIBLE at consistent data retrieval. I am glad it works at all, but it’s annoying when I need to talk on the phone and do work online at the same time. Error page after error page pop up all the time. I have been switching the cables back and forth so that when I don’t HAVE to be on the phone, I can get consistent internet access, but this is starting to get annoying. I wish they made some kind of mock HDMI switch just for this type of situation. Then I could cut off one side of the service while the other stays on. I guess it would be more like the old style cable switches that slide from side to side in order to give cable versus the antenna. Anyone know of a switch like that?
Get connected, win a car
I have been looking into alternatives to the mainstream companies that provide internet, tv, and phone services. One company I was looking into was Charter. They have pretty reasonable prices. The only problem is that they don’t have service where I live. That’s too bad, especially since their all inclusive package is only $99.97 per month for a year AND they automatically enter you to win a 2009 Honda Civic Hybrid when you sign up for their service. You can also register to win without purchase, but you still have to live inside their provider area. I have always wanted a Honda, and a hybrid in this economy would be a blessing! It would also be nice to have one provider for all my tv, surfing, and talking needs.
Ah, well. Hopefully, they will get into my area soon. I think they should have an email sign up so you can suggest an area, and get an email when they do come to your neck of the woods.
In the mean time, go check and see if you are eligible to enter the sweepstakes. You never know, you might just win. I will just continue to sit here and read about the 45 miles per gallon highway mileage, mp3 input jack, usb connection for music, and the sweet shiny polished metal!
Ulterior motives in memory
I own a DVD burner…actually one is in my computer and the other is an external. I also have a zip drive that takes 100 and 250 mb disks. I have a 1 GB stick *thanks to Friday Favecast*, and I am looking into getting an exterior hard drive. Searching through alternatives for storage, I found that people still use tape drives! I don’t think I have heard much about them in the last 5 years, but the fact that people are still using them has to speak something for their usefulness. Anyone ever used one? Let me know your experiences.
No Sunday Portrait
Why? Because my digital camera has decided to work when it feels like, not when I want it to. I guess this is in direct protest to us not going into Canada to picture the falls from the other side. I told this thing that we are going back in November and I really need it to forgive me so we can have a wonderful trip together. Apparently, it doesn’t believe me. It came on for a half a second today and went back to sleep in defiance.
Danged sensitive technology
That is alright, though, because I am going SHOPPING FOR ANOTHER ONE very soon!
Free Gas Card with Hi-Speed Service
If you are in the market for high-speed internet service, why not get something in return? Once you sign up for service, you get a free gas gift card for Shell and one entry to win a HP Compaq Presario C770US laptop! The Charter Laptop-a-Day Giveaway is handing out 30 laptops within 30 days. The laptops features include built in Wi-Fi, built in ethernet, a dual core pentium processor, 15 inch screen, 2GB RAM, 160GB hard drive, and a DVD burner. They even throw in a laptop backback by NEOtec.
They have a great introductory price of only $19.99 for the first six months of Charter High Speed, as well as other packages that include telephone and television service. I am looking at this offer myself, since I really need a laptop AND phone service. I would love an all inclusive plan. They have it for a bit cheaper than the competition. I will definitely be talking to the Man about it when he gets home. The gas card alone is valued at up to one hundred dollars. With gas prices the way they are, you surely can’t just walk away without at least considering what they are offering. This is a chance you don’t want to miss. Make sure to visit the site for more details.
