alarmclockMy son’s carebear clock had stopped working a while back, so I wrote to the company and asked them if they could send a replacement. They asked me to change the batteries and test it first, then if it didn’t work send it over and they would replace it.

Well, lo and behold, it was the TYPE of batteries I was using, not the unit itself. They were nice enough to include the replacement batteries with the unit so that I would know what works with it and have some to work with till I get to the store. Thanks a lot!!! You guys totally rock?

At bread day today, I got to chat with a lady that lives on the opposite side of my apartment complex. She was telling me about how she can never find a sale on orange juice that suits her anymore. I totally agree. I mean, 2.50$ for a half gallon of OJ is a bit much. We were both talking about how thankful we are for the bread giveaway. We save a lot of money going there. I have to ask a special blessing on those people. They work hard to put that and more together every week.

A simple run to the dollar store became a bit more complicated once I found out that they had NO chalk in the entire width and breadth of the store. I did pick up books for the Boy to jump start us into our easy summer program of learning. So I had to run ourselves from the relatively close dollar store all.the.way down to the Mart of Wal.

Their little pack of sidewalk chalk is totally overpriced. I can see $1.50, but not nearly $3. Their manuscript writing pads were ridiculous, too. They have some they call “2-3 grade” paper which has thinner lines than the 1st grade paper…and it costs a full dollar more. WHAT???

I guess I nearly wet myself when I saw the prices, cuz all of a sudden I had to use the facilities. Ergh. I ended up getting 2 packets of regular sized chalk (2 packs of 12 are now 72 cents each color or white) and deciding to just make copies of his manuscript paper at the library. It costs me less to make a full book of pages than it does to buy them already made.

At least Pe-psi was on sale *smh*.

I took myself on a little excursion today, dating myself. I got myself all dressed up, bought myself a mocha frapp, then went and got Bread because today is Bread Day! After that, I put myself through the torture that is the post office on Saturday. On the way back, I stopped and got myself a lunch special from the Chinese food store and utilized the wait time to buy some juice from next door. Now I am home, ready to enjoy my relaxing few hours before the Man returns and I have to go into wife mode again. YAY for treating yourself!

Well, that’s what it felt like is all we bought at WalM*rt the other day. I looked in our cart after the total and was amazed to see that a few bottles of vitamin water, some sheets for our non-adjustable beds, a bottle of juice, and some deodorant cost that much. I mean, we probably got a few other things in there, but it was mostly LIQUID. The shame of it: everything was pretty much on sale! I hate how far a dollar goes in our economy right now.
Today, I get to brave the elements and find out about the laundromat in our area. We only ever use the two washers/dryers next door and they SUCK. Since *someone* gave *somebody* juice after 9pm last night, it’s kind of an urgent trip. *smh* Oh well. I just hope that I can do a good amount of clothes for $10 unlike here, where I get to do 3 loads for $9.

that’s what I did yesterday… I found the most awesome deal on dyed spinning fiber at Woolbearers. There was 2 ounces of lime and violet romney, but then I saw this:

*drools* it was only 60 cents more since there was more fiber in it. It has flecks of dark green in it, too. It’s so pretty I nearly cried. It’s one of the best buys I have ever seen on dyed fiber. Gas going there is less than shipping, so I hope to visit there every month or so to see if they have anything I can get for myself. I still plan to buy from spunkyeclectic, but not dyed wool. :D

I still have to go to the store and finish buying things for the house. I have just been trying luxuriate in the fact that I haven’t had to move too fast the last few days. I have to get a lamp STILL …we are such slackers. I think the dog needs some new pet supplies, like a few more stuffed toys. That dog is so hard on toys! I want to go buy some more soy milk for my son before he comes back home tomorrow. There are so many things on my mind to do. Now if I could just finish up what I have to do in the house before I go, that would meake a huge difference.
